Can we monitor our thoughts and perceptions to live a happier and healthier life?
The answer is emphatically, yes. Since everything that we do and create is the result of a single thought, how can we ignore our daily thought patterns? We are our worse enemy when it comes to our mental and physical heath. The only thing in this life that we have total control over is our thoughts. Our thoughts create the life that we are living today and these thoughts were shaped and influenced by our parents and our environment. As an adult, we have total control over our thoughts and our reaction to our daily interactions. Whether the influence in shaping our thoughts were positive or negative, as an adult individual, we have the ability and the responsibility to monitor our thoughts and the words that come out of our mouth to make sure that everything that we say and do are compassionate and loving. We must guard our thoughts very carefully to avoid being mean and hateful in our thoughts and deeds. We need to avoid being a hypocrite by professing to be a good Christian while spewing venomous and hateful verbiage no matter what religion or political party that you belong to.
Our mental health has a direct correlation with our physical health and that been said, if we can keep our mind from the hateful and unloving state, then we can attain mental and physical health that is crucial to living a healthy and happy life. Our relationships with our spouses/partners, our friends and our co-workers will affect our mental and physical health. This all depends on whether you are living your life from a spiritual base or an egotistical base. A spiritual based marriage/relationship are based on love and compassion. An ego-based marriage/relationship are based on a batter system. All of us will have some form of disagreement with the people that we interact with on a daily basis, but do we process the issue and move on with our lives or do we process the issue and continue to rehash the pain over and over again. This can only lead to an unhealthy mind, spirit and body.
Do you think that you are separate mentally and spiritually from the rest of humanity?
The answer is emphatically no. We are all interconnected with everyone on this planet as a member of the human race at the mental and spiritual level. Like or not it, that is the way it is. If you think that you are separate from everyone else mentally and spiritually, you are living totally from an ego based self, which is very unhealthy for you mentally and physically. An ego based self is an individual who is selfish and does everything with an expectation of something in return. An ego based self is a completely self-centered individual.
A spiritual based self is an individual who understands that we are all interconnected mentally and spiritually with everyone else on this planet. We may choose not to acknowledge this connection with some people but the connection still remains. With our spouse/partner, friends, and co-workers, we cannot ignore this connection if we want to get along and be happy. In order for us to maintain and enjoy a good relationships, we must diligently monitor our thoughts every second of our lives and make sure that we are extending nothing caring thoughts and compassion to everyone that we are interacting with. This is especially crucial when we are dealing with our spouse/partner whether they are present or away from us. Extend nothing but caring thoughts to your love one and enjoy a great loving relationship for the rest of your life. This will take a tremendous effort on your part because a casual effort will not accomplish what you want. It has to be total vigilance on your part and sometimes your spouse/partner can make this difficult but you must persist if you value your relationship. Unconditional love is the greatest gift we can extend and we can learn a great deal from our pets.
Mindful loving is the only way to live a happy and healthy life while trying to heal the ills of our society
Our society and our world community are in need of healing and the only way that this can happen is through love and not hatred. Each one of us can do our part every day that we wake up. We should thank God for given us this day to extend love and compassion to everyone that we meet and interact with. We should begin with thanking God for all of our blessings (our health, our spouse, our children, our family, and our friends). We should live everyday in total gratitude. Keep in mind that when we extend love and compassion it affects everyone around us. It is like a smile, in that it becomes infectious and it snowballs. In order for us to live a happy and healthy life, we must first monitor every thought that we entertain. If a thought is negative in nature, we still have to process it but not act on it. Only act and extend loving and caring thoughts because what you extend will come back to you in one form or another. So, be very careful in what type of thoughts that you entertain consistently.
Our thoughts are the foundation of our health, happiness and prosperity. Everything that we do begins with a single thought. Even in the teaching on our savior, the importance of our thoughts is highlighted. One of the beatitudes that I would like to quote is: “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth”. If one is to have complete control of one’s outer experience, one must first have complete control of one’s thoughts. Our total world experience is the manifestation of our total inner thoughts. If you want to be happy, healthy and prosperous, you need to be very careful with the thoughts that you hold dear in your hearth. May God bless you with health, happiness and prosperity!
